Hi Holiday Emporium followers,
Vickie here, I thought I would share some insight into how the get the best deals for October half term.
I travel as a family of 4 with teenagers and October half term is by far my favourite and most appreciated holiday of the year, it’s that final ray of sunshine before we hibernate for the winter
This year we saw prices rocket as restrictions lifted and everyone (understandably) was desperate to get away. Most people wanted a short haul flight for a week with some guarantee of sunshine without breaking the bank
Top resort requests will always be the Canary Islands (Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura)
BUT AND ITS A BIG BUT ……
The tour operators know this, and the prices are reflective of the demand. The prices put people off as October half term is often a family’s additional or 2nd holiday after their main summer getaway and the Canaries just don’t offer value for money at this time.
MY ADVISE …… Take a look at the map below, all these resorts:-
Madeira, Morocco, Malta, Tunisia, Egypt, Crete, Rhodes, Kos , Southern Turkey and Cyprus are on a similar line of latitude to the Canaries . The weather here is lovely at the end of October. There are obviously no guarantees anywhere, but these resorts are all great and offer MUCH MUCH better value for money!
Food for thought. This year I went to Rhodes for October Half term. We had perfect blue sky everyday apart from one cloudy morning and it rained on the morning we left.
We stayed in a 5 star hotel All-inclusive and paid an equivalent price of a 3 star Self-catering property in Lanzarote!
The weather in Rhodes was better that week than it was in Tenerife
